 Fee:
$240 per 8-week session (plus materials cost)
Class Length: 45-minute class per week
Curriculum:
“Music for Little Mozarts” by Alfred Publisher
Description:

The purpose of this class is to familiarize our young students with basic components of music: melody, harmony, and rhythm, as those are necessary pre-requisites for continued musical growth and enjoyment throughout life. They are introduced to "call and response" singing and playing, use of percussion instruments, and access to our Yamaha state-of-the-art piano lab.

Piano is an ideal instrument for acquiring the language of music through the senses of sight, touch and hearing. Children can see what they are doing both at the keyboard and on the printed page. They can touch the keys and hear an audio response. Learning musical patterns and elements at this young age establishes a solid musical foundation for piano, and any other musical activities in the future.

Pre-Piano is a year-long program happens over the course of multiple sessions which are progressive in difficulty (each session being 8 weeks long), and it prepares younger students for private lessons. Private lessons are much more structured and a larger commitment than our Pre-Piano class. While many of our pre-piano students go on to taking private piano lessons, the skills learned in the class can also prepare students for voice lessons and other instruments.
