Policy:


Payment Policy:

  • Session tuition must be paid by the due date to ensure continuation as a student with the conservatory

  • Students who discontinue lessons in the middle of a session are still responsible for full payment of the session’s tuition

  • Lessons are paid by session. During the academic year, sessions last 8 weeks. For the summer session (10 weeks), a charge will be added to your invoice for the additional weeks that session has.

  • Students can start in the middle of a session. The lessons from the session they start in will be added as a charge on the invoice for the following session.

  • Tuition charges DO NOT cover the cost of materials


Student Attendance Policy:

  • Regular attendance is expected of all students. It is both the students’ and parents’ responsibility to arrive on time for lessons.

  • Students are charged for the entire session/all weeks for which they are registered, regardless of attendance

  • Notification of inability to attend class does not excuse payment.

  • No refunds will be given for lessons missed by the student.

  • Administration and a student’s instructor must be notified at least 24 hours in advance in the case of an absence to ensure a make-up lesson or credit. Please contact administration at admin@musicconservatoryofillinois.com.

  • Students can reschedule a maximum of 2 lessons per session if administration and the student’s instructor is notified at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Make-up lessons must be scheduled within the session. Make-up lessons are NOT guaranteed after that time period.

  • Students who are tardy are not guaranteed the full duration of their lesson.

  • Make-up lessons can be offered in the form of an entire lesson, or distributing lesson time over the course of multiple lessons.

  • Our admin team and instructor must be copied on all communications in regards to lesson adjustments.


Sickness:

  • Please notify administration and the student’s instructor as soon as possible. Only 2 sick make-ups will be granted per session.


Instructor Attendance Policy:

  • If an instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be first offered. Credit is only an option if a make-up lesson is not possible.

  • If an instructor is late to their lesson, they will give the student a full-length lesson.

    • Some of our instructors come from classes at Northwestern University, or another educational institution. Some of their tardiness will be unintentional and out of their control. 

  • If an instructor is unable to make a lesson, it is their responsibility to contact administration and their students to schedule make-up lessons. Credit is only offered if a student cannot attend a make-up lesson provided a teacher’s schedule.

  • Please be understanding of our instructors, as they are students and musicians beyond the scope of MCIL. If their other commitments become an issue for you or your student, please do not hesitate to reach out to administration.


Practicing:

  • Regular practice is expected from students to ensure musical growth. 

  • Parents are encouraged to monitor student’s practice habits.

  • Students are able to reserve a room to practice in, free of charge

    • To reserve a room, please contact us by phone or email 24-hours prior to room usage. Please include the student’s name, instructor’s name, and day/time to reserve a room.

    • If a room is not reserved in advance, it is not available for use, even if unoccupied.


Withdrawals and Refunds

  • Students are expected to pay the entirety of a session, even if they withdraw during the middle of a session.

  • Due to the complexity of scheduling lessons, refunds are not available. However, credits can be applied to the next session. We want to encourage growth for our students; This is an investment in their musical future!
