Private Lesson Attendance

• Weekly attendance is mandatory and expected from all students.

• It is the responsibility of both student and/or the guardian to arrive on time for lessons.

Absences

• Students can receive makeup lessons up to two times per session total:

  • Administration must be notified at least 24 hours in advance, via absence form to be considered excused. ALL other absences will be considered Unexcused and are not eligible for a makeup OR refund.​

• Once students have had two makeup lessons within one session, they are not eligible for further makeups, even with advanced notice.

• All absences that are unexcused are NOT eligible for a credit or refund.

• Makeup lessons that are forfeited are NOT eligible for a credit or refund. 

• Tardiness is considered forfeiting the time before arrival to a lesson.

Illness

• We understand that illness is unavoidable, so to prevent putting other students, teachers, and parents at risk, this is the only exception to the above attendance policy:

  • Students are allowed one makeup lesson per session for absence where notification is less than 24 hours prior to the lesson. This is only for illness.​

  • In order to collect your illness absence makeup lesson, you must fill out an absence form within 24 hours of the reported absence.

  • Makeup lessons are scheduled at the availability of the teacher. If the teacher is fully booked, MCIL may assign a substitute teacher for a make-up.

  • A makeup lesson for an illness absence does count toward the two total makeup lessons per student, per session

Teacher Absences

• If a teacher is unable to attend a lesson, options will be offered in this order:

  1. We will provide a substitute to keep the scheduled time slot the same​

  2. The regular teacher will schedule a makeup within the same session

• If a teacher is tardy, students are entitled to the full duration of their lesson. The missing time can be added to the end of the lesson or made up another time.

• Please note: If a student declines having their regularly scheduled lesson with a substitute, the lesson will be considered a student cancellation and will be ineligible for a credit or a refund.

Makeup Lessons

• Any lesson scheduled outside of a student's reserved lesson slot is considered a makeup lesson

• In order to facilitate scheduling a makeup lesson, you must fill out an absence form 24 hours prior to the missed lesson

• Makeup lessons due to a student absence can be scheduled as:

  1. A lesson on a different day of the week, with the student's teacher or a substitute that matches their availability, within the same session that the absence took place
     or

  2. Missed lesson time is added over the course of multiple lessons (within the same session), as scheduling permits

Group Class Attendance Policy

​

• Any class with more than one student is unable to be rescheduled, except: 

  • ​If all members of a class come to the class together/from the same household, the class can be made-up in the following order:​​

    1. Substitute teacher makeup​

    2. Original teacher makeup at alternate time

    3. Lesson time distributed over multiple lessons

• Pre-Piano and Group Class Instructors are subject to change at any time, including the use of the substitute teachers

Misc.

• Teachers reserve the right to dismiss students from their studio due to the following:

  • Repeated unexcused absences​

  • Inappropriate behavior (Verbal or physical harassment, damage of property, etc.)

• Practice rooms are available to students of MCIL free of charge

  • ​Rooms must be reserved 24-hours in advance, no exceptions.​​ Please contact admin to schedule a room.
